"...We will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord,
His power and the wonders He has done."
Patt & family at Cherry Grove Beach.
Dear Friends and Family,
As we approach Father's Day, we are encouraged to remember our fathers and their impact on our lives. Truly, they have been instrumental in guiding us Godward.
This week my family and I are in Cherry Grove Beach, SC, revisiting the place where J.L. spent many summers as a child, and took shorter visits as he grew up. He had so many tall tales of wrestling sharks, competitive body surfing with his brother, sisters and cousins, helping his Dad repair "the barn", and his Mom's delicious seafood meals: flounder, crab, scallops, clams, cornbread, slaw, banana pudding and more! I wanted them to see where "Pop" had some of his grand adventures, at least as I recalled his telling of them. But no one could tell a story quite like J.L., laughing so hard he had tears running down his cheeks.
Since this is our first Father's Day without him, we made time on several occasions to honor his memory. The family saw where the big house used to stand, with everyone wishing it was still there. We went out to eat seafood in his honor! That's where the picture above was taken.
Later that same night, we had devotions from Psalm 78:2-4, 6-7, and shared father and grandfather memories of him and extended family members' Dads – with joy and sadness mixed together.
Another night, we walked around to the inlet to watch the sunset. It was a special moment to see God's beautiful gift that night, and I loved watching it with family, especially my grandchildren. We ended the evening, as the sunset gave way to night, lighting sky lanterns in a simple ceremony for J.L., and for Marty Morris, Susannah's father who died the week before J.L. Emotional, tender...awesome.

... a special time of remembrance.
Warmest regards to all the fathers who provide for their families: spiritually, emotionally and physically. And the deepest thankfulness of all to God, who is the perfect Father, the everlasting Father, who loves us so wonderfully!
With love in Christ,
P.S. A couple of years ago, J. L. gave the following Father’s Day message at Randy & Lisa Durham’s church in Raleigh, NC, and we are honored to share it with you. (Please click on the "Fatherhood of God" image below.) God’s richest blessings to you this Father’s Day!
