Dear Friends,

My family and I wish you and your families a most blessed Thanksgiving!

We are looking forward to being together this week, rejoicing in God’s faithfulness for the past 11 months. Even though we will miss J.L. more than words can express at times, our happy memories with him will carry us through the sad times.

Dear Friends and Partners,

Greetings to you all during this Fall season!

Yes, it’s time to post J.L.’s article on Halloween again. It’s one of at least three times each year when our attention is taken from the goodness of God and turned 180 degrees toward the evil one.

“…I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor,

now is the day of salvation.”

2 Corinthians 6:2b

Dear Friends and Partners,

A recent letter from a friend of ours referred to J.L. as my “late husband”. I understood what she meant, but I had to laugh. Those of you who knew J.L. were very much aware that he was never “late”. In fact, one of his favorite expressions was, “If you’re on time, you’re late.” Our children and I spent many a Sunday in a nearly empty sanctuary because we were there so early. He even wrote a book called, What Time Is It?  You can click on the title and it will take you to our website to download.

“I consider my life worth nothing to me,

if only I may finish the race and complete

the task the Lord Jesus Christ has given me —

the task of testifying to the gospel of God’s grace.”

Acts 20:24

The Gospel of God’s Grace

Dear Friends and Partners of JLPF,

It has been quite some time since you last heard from me. Since J.L. died, the most common thing I am asked is, “How are you doing?” It’s a fair question.  Some days are wonderful and I feel completely sustained by the Holy Spirit.  Then there are days when something happens – like I hear a worship song we both loved, or I eat a food we enjoyed…or maybe nothing at all – and my emotional feet are knocked out from under me. So, if I ever hesitate in my response to your question, it may be because I’m having a rough time. Please know I am grateful that you asked and I am thankful for your prayers. As each month passes, the grieving lessens just a little bit more.

Dear Friends and Partners,

How thankful we are for all of you who have participated in the memorial packathons in memory of J.L.!

Because of you, over 600,000 meals have been packed to benefit refugees in northern Iraq.

We want to take this opportunity to invite you to the last memorial Packathon, to be held at Rich Fork Church, 3993 Old US Hwy 29 in Thomasville, NC.  Rich Fork is the home church of JL’s sister and brother-in-law, Hannah and Keith Thompson.

Please see the flyer below for important information concerning the Packathon, and we hope to see you there!

God bless you,
