”...they will call Him Immanuel, which means ‘God with us’.”

Dear Ministry Partner,

When you open this email I will be airborne for Africa—this time to Kenya and Zimbabwe.  I have only been home from India for a little over a week—which I trust you know and read about in my last email report.  This is my annual “get ready for Christmas” mission trip!  For me, there is no greater way to get spiritually prepared for Christmas than to get as close as possible to people in need—whether it is in America, Asia or Africa.  So I spend the first several weeks of December every year in some part of the world with our beloved national partners—this year in Africa.

I go to do all I can to strengthen the hands of our national partners through the holistic projects we have developed together across the years—all through the generous partnerships of people like you.  Whether it is ministering to unreached peoples…building churches…constructing houses…holding sports camps…helping with feeding programs…initiating Medical ministry…nurturing agricultural projects…sponsoring water projects…developing self-support initiatives…or planting trees—anything that will build relationships and build bridges between God and man through the Lord Jesus!  Like the Apostle Paul said: “I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some.  I do all this for the sake of the Gospel…” (I Cor. 9:22-23).

Ed & Becky Williams and JL in India

“How can we thank God enough for you in return for all the joy we have in the presence of our God because of you?” - (I Thess. 3:9)

Dear Ministry Partners,

The verse above summarizes my special thanksgiving to God for my partnership with you.  In my book, the Power of Partnership, I have a chapter entitled “The Praise of Partnership,” because all authentic partnership results in praise—whether it is the partnership of marriage or ministry.  This blog entry is a celebration of my life-long partnership with my brother, Ed, and his wife Becky.  It was Ed who first invited Patt and me to help him at the YMCA in Burlington.  We did so for a summer in 1968 to help develop a Day Camp program.  We thought this was just a brief interlude before going overseas for life as career missionaries.  But it was during this time that the “New Directions” was born—an interdenominational, interracial ministry whose mission was to take the Gospel into the market place—through contemporary music.  We never dreamed that God would use our interracial ministry in America to open cross-cultural doors in other countries.
