Partner Newsletters

Dear partners...

Resurrection greetings from Port-au-Prince.  I have had a wonderful Easter Day of ministry.  I will send a longer report when I return home.  But right now I wanted to quickly update you on the grave situation in Mali.  I know that many of you have been praying for our dear partners there.  I just received this email from Professor Mohamed-Ibrahim.  Also some disheartening pictures of the mindless carnage done by the Islamic Radicals.

One other disheartening word before closing.  I just heard something in Port-au-Prince that I never thought I would hear here -- which caused my blood turn cold.  It was the Moslem call to prayer!  While I am very used to hearing it many times a day in Africa, the Middle East and Asia -- I never thought I would hear it here in Haiti'.

It shows how Islam is on the advance all over the world.  More about this when I get back home...JL

Dear Praying Partners of JLPF,

Below is an URGENT EMAIL UPDATE from my dear friend and partner in Gao, Mali, Professor Mohamed-Ibrahim Yattara.  As I trust you know by now from the news, the whole country of Mali has been under seize by Al Qaeda rebels.  These Al Qaeda mercenaries flooded into Mali after the fall of Moammar Gadhafi in Libya.  They are there to overtake the fledgling Malian democracy and replace it with Islamic fundamentalism -- making Sharia Law the new religious and political authority of the country.   They have now hoisted their "Azawad flag" in each city they have taken and are chanting in the streets: "Allahu Akbar," meaning "Allah is the greatest."  Everyone must respond to that chant with "Allahu Akbar," or be killed!  They also took the Capital City of Bamako in a military coup.  Until a couple of days ago, the last two Northern cities not taken were Gao and Timbuktu, which were still controlled by the Malian Army.  They have now fallen to the rebels and separatists!

There has also been an insurrection by the Tuareg separatists, known as the "Lords of the Sahara."  They have been operating a guerrilla war for decades for their own separate homeland.  So they have seized this moment to advance their separatist cause.

The missionaries have fled the country.  Our national partners are in grave danger since they represent the very small Christian minority.  So please read this email I have just received from Professor Mohamed-Ibrahim -- and hit your knees in intercession for him and his family and the other 28 people now hold up in their home.

We will keep you posted as we get more details…JL
