imageThis is a quick “field report” to all of my NDI/KE Partners from Accra, Ghana.  Randy and I have just finished a full and fruitful time of ministry in Kumasi with our partner of (3) decades, Evangelist Yaw Asante.  We conducted a Leadership Conference on “The Biblical Perspective of Work” which proved to be very timely and prophetic.  We also visited our Double Harvest Farm Project, launched a new sports ministry with the soccer uniforms and balls we took in for poor children and teenagers—the first new sports equipment they had ever had.

Greetings from Amsterdam on our way to Ghana.  I want to take this brief layover between flights to share with you this flyer promoting the Bible Conference to be held this week in Kumasi, Ghana (West Africa).  The theme of this year’s conference is “A Biblical Work Ethic.”  It is organized by my partner of over 30 years, Yaw Asante and co-hosted by Pastor Ransford Obeng of the Calvary Charismatic Center, one of the largest churches in the country.

I had the opportunity to spend a few minutes with Chavannes Jeune this past weekend prior to the start of a national Bible Conference in Port-au-Prince.  Chavannes has partnered with New Directions International for many years and we have worked together over the past year on a national initiative in Haiti to place 100,000 Bibles in the hands of government leaders across the country.  The distribution began with a presentation of a Bible to the Haitian president and culminated with this conference on Sunday August 16, 2009.

I hope you will enjoy this video interview with Chavannes.

“Jesus said: ‘With God all things are possible.’” - Matt. 19:26

imageHudson Taylor,  pioneer missionary to China said this: “There are three stages in the work of God: impossible, difficult, done.”  I couldn’t agree more because those 3 words aptly describe what we have seen God do in Haiti over the last 12 months.  God gave NDI partner, Pastor Chavannes Jeune, the vision of giving a French Bible to every government worker in Haiti – from the President and Prime Minister down to the lowest cleric in every government office across the country!  That meant 100,000 Bibles!

In the natural, that seemed like an impossible task!  It would take a minimum of $500,000 to buy that many Bibles – especially in French!  Then there would be the shipping and logistics problems of carrying them all over Haiti to every government office.  At best that would take 3 – 5 years!  But the very Bibles we were planning to give to those government workers reminded us that ours is the “God of the impossible.”  When He has given a vision, impossibilities become possibilities… obstacles become opportunities… dreams become realities.”  When the council of heaven declares a thing “done!” —that settles it for time and eternity!  As we say, it’s a “done deal.”

Hello from Haiti!  Randy Durham here and it is my great pleasure to be traveling with J. L. this weekend for a historic conference in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.  Many of you will remember me from my time in New Directions in the mid 1970’s and then on staff at NDI for three years in the early 1980’s.  Since that time the Lord has blessed me with the opportunity to travel the world producing video programs for faith-based organizations, non-profits, corporations and for television.  Thirty years after graduating NC State University with a degree in Communications the Lord has allowed me to come full circle, traveling with J. L. to witness and tell the story of what God is doing through Kingdom Entrepreneurs and faithful servants in this culture and others to come.  Here is a quick video welcome to let you know more about this conference.

After the conference this weekend we will travel to Africa in the coming weeks to capture on video what God is doing through the ministry partnerships of New Directions International.  There is no one in the world I respect more and would rather travel with than J. L.  And the Kingdom connections that I have already witnessed are nothing short of Spirit led.  I would like to encourage you to pray for J. L. and the ministry of New Directions International.  Your prayer and financial support are needed now more than ever.  The fields are white unto harvest and there are faithful servants eager to enter the fields.  May the Lord grant us the wisdom, the vision and the commitment to move forward by the Spirit to the glory of Christ!

Blessings!
Randy Durham
